At Cockapoo Cottage & Friends, grooming is about so much more than simply giving your dog a haircut. It is a calm, loving
experience centred around your dog’s comfort, happiness, and emotional wellbeing.
I have created a cosy cottage-style grooming cabin designed especially for gentle one-to-one appointments, peaceful surroundings,
patient handling, and plenty of cuddles. Everything I do is focused on creating a positive, stress-free experience where your dog
can feel safe, relaxed, and cared for.
I happily provide rest breaks for elderly dogs or those with arthritis, reassurance and cuddle breaks for anxious dogs, and gentle
play breaks for puppies who may need extra time to settle. For dogs that experience stress or anxiety, I can also incorporate
calming pressure-point massage techniques to help them feel reassured and relaxed throughout their groom.
Whether your dog simply enjoys being pampered or needs a little extra patience and understanding, I take the time to truly get to
know them, helping them feel comfortable, confident, and secure.
Unlike busy salons, I do not aim to fill my day with rushed appointments or back-to-back grooming sessions. I believe many dogs —
especially older or anxious dogs — simply need patience, quiet surroundings, and time to relax, rather than standing for long
periods in a noisy environment.
If you are looking for a quick, rushed groom, then I may not be the right groomer for you. Your dog’s physical, emotional, and
mental wellbeing will always be my highest priority.
From tiny Chihuahuas to Spaniels and Cockapoos, every dog is welcomed and treated like part of the family. And for dogs who
deserve an extra-special pamper, I also offer relaxing blueberry facials and soothing full-body massage treatments.
Your dog will leave looking — and feeling — absolutely wonderful.
Maintaining exceptional salon hygiene and cleanliness is extremely important to me. All grooming equipment is thoroughly cleaned and sterilised before every appointment to ensure a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for every dog.
At Cockapoo Cottage & Friends, your dog’s physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing will always be my highest priority.
I bring years of genuine passion, patience, and compassionate care to every grooming appointment, ensuring each dog feels safe, relaxed, and truly cared for throughout their visit.

Fully Trained Level 3 Diploma Certification in Dog Grooming.
Certification Ultra Sound Canine Dental Cleaning.
Certification Canine first Aid. Certification Canine Massage.
I am the proud owner of three Cockapoos, each with their own unique personalities and coat types, ranging in age from 11 to 14
years old. My journey into the world of dogs began with my first Cockapoo, Chester, who completely changed my life and inspired a
whole new career path.
After more than 25 years working as a Holistic Therapist and Skincare Specialist, I made the life-changing decision to sell my spa
business and follow my passion for dogs. I went on to create my own successful pet care business, “Pet Au Pair – Loving Care
When You’re Not There,” where I welcomed dogs of all breeds and sizes into my home for loving care, cuddles, and enriching
walks in Surrey.
My passion for grooming began naturally through caring for my own Cockapoos and soon grew into a true vocation. After moving to
the beautiful town of Battle, I dedicated myself to further training and professional qualifications, achieving a Level 3 Diploma in Dog
Grooming, alongside certifications in Canine First Aid, Canine Massage, and Ultra Sound Canine Dental Cleaning.
With my background as a therapist, creating a calm, peaceful, and stress-free grooming experience comes very naturally to me. I
believe every dog deserves patience, kindness, gentle handling, and individual care — especially elderly, or anxious dogs who may
need extra reassurance and time to relax.
At Cockapoo Cottage & Friends, your dog’s physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing will always be my highest priority.

Some top tips, care guides and some before and afters

Whether your pup is playful, nervous, young, or simply in need of a little extra reassurance, Claire takes the time to gently get to know every dog individually, helping them feel relaxed, safe, and happy throughout their visit.
If it’s your first time booking, we warmly recommend arranging a relaxed Meet & Greet beforehand.
This gives your pooch the chance to explore the cottage, have a few cuddles, sniff around, and become familiar with Claire and the grooming environment before their appointment.
Our goal is simple — calm coats, happy hearts, and grooming experiences your dog will genuinely enjoy returning to.
Every dog is different, so grooming times can vary depending on your dog’s coat condition, temperament, age, and individual
needs.
As a general guide:
Bath & Tidy Appointments / Puppy Intro Sessions: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours
Full Grooms & Premium Pamper Appointments: approximately 2.5 to 4 hours
I work on a calm, one-to-one basis and never rush appointments. Some dogs are naturally relaxed and enjoy the grooming
process, while others — particularly elderly, anxious, or nervous dogs — may need additional comfort breaks, rest periods,
reassurance, or extra time to settle.
Your dog’s comfort and wellbeing will always be far more important to me than rushing through an appointment.
As soon as your dog’s groom is completed, I will contact you to arrange collection.
Please kindly avoid arriving early or waiting outside the salon, as many dogs become excited when they see their owners and this
can increase anxiety or make it difficult for them to settle and finish their groom calmly.
Your dog’s comfort, health, and wellbeing will always come first. Severely matted coats can be extremely uncomfortable and, in
some cases, painful for dogs, often pulling tightly on the skin and restricting airflow.
For this reason, heavily matted coats may need to be clipped short or fully shaved in the interest of your dog’s welfare.
Please note that de-matting is not included within the standard grooming price and is charged at £1 per minute. This additional fee
helps cover the extra time required, along with the increased wear and tear placed on grooming equipment.
Many breeds — particularly curly and long-coated breeds such as Cockapoos — are naturally prone to matting and require regular
brushing and coat maintenance at home between grooming appointments.
Where possible, I will always try to preserve your dog’s coat. However, under the guidelines of the Animal Welfare Act, prolonged
or severe matting can be considered a welfare issue and removing the coat may sometimes be the kindest and safest option.
I will always discuss this with you fully before proceeding and gain your consent prior to clipping or shaving a matted coat. I am also
happy to offer advice on home grooming routines, brushing techniques, and future coat maintenance to help achieve the style and
coat condition you would like for your dog.
Please note that severely matted dogs may require additional time and, in some cases, more than one grooming appointment.

I recommend introducing puppies to grooming as early as possible, ideally once they are fully vaccinated and able to go on walks
— usually around 3 to 4 months of age.
The earlier your puppy begins their grooming journey, the easier and more positive the experience is likely to be for them in the
future. Early introductions help puppies become familiar with bathing, drying, brushing, handling, and the sounds and sensations
involved in grooming.
I ideally like to see puppies every 2–3 weeks during their first 6 months, allowing me to gently build their confidence and help them
become relaxed, happy, and comfortable with the grooming process at their own pace.
My calm, one-to-one approach focuses on creating positive experiences filled with patience, reassurance, cuddles, and gentle
handling — helping your puppy grow into a confident little salon visitor for years to come.
For the safety and wellbeing of both dogs and humans, only myself is permitted within the grooming area during grooming
appointments.
This helps create a calm, quiet, and safe environment where dogs are able to relax and focus without additional distractions or
excitement.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Please kindly park outside the entrance to the Marley Close and walk up to my home where possible.
As this is a small residential area with mainly resident-only parking for the elderly, your consideration and cooperation are very
much appreciated in helping me remain respectful to my neighbours.
Thank you so much for your understanding and support.
